Hotel Halcyon is a branding project inspired by my stay in Pittsburgh. While in Pittsburgh I was fascinated by the steelwork and industrious feel. The vision of this brand has to do with that trendy industrial feel that many hotels are going towards. The Ridged line work and negative space are supposed to represent a steelwork blueprint that ties in the main industry of the Pittsburgh area. I chose a modern typeface that gave the type a tall elegant feel. This typeface also represents the elongation of the buildings that were built when Pittsburgh was a booming steel producing city.
